In recent years wines of Murcia have come to promenece

I have heard Murcian wine refered to as "peleona" from the word "to fight", due to the high alcohol content.

Wineries in Jumilla, Yecla and Bullas are adopting modern techniques and there wines are now much less prone to oxidizing.
